Honeywell Elster Rotary Gas Meters
Honeywell Elster is a market leader in the field of measuring, controlling and analysing equipment for (natural) gas installations. In 2015, the Elster Group, with brand names like Elster-Instromet, Kromschröder and American Meter Company, has become a Honeywell company.
Compact and easy to install
One of the most common types of flow meters for (natural) gas is the rotary gas meter, also called positive displacement (PD) meter. The principle consists of two (or four) impellers which are set into motion by the flow of the medium, acting as a reverse pump. Each rotation corresponds with a fixed volume, making the rotary gas meter extremely accurate over its entire measuring range. They are compact and easy to install. For example, there is no need for a long straight pipe before or after the meter to make it work properly. However, a small pressure loss must be taken into account.
