Elster Turbine gas flowmeters Qa, Qae, Q, Q75, TRZ2 and SM_RI-X for standard flow measurement and custody transfer (MID) for (natural) gas and hydrogen (H2)

Turbine meters are very precise meters which, when provided with an MID approval, can be used for certified fiscal flow measurements. The Honeywell Elster turbine flow meters are especially developed for (natural) gas applications, with appropriate flow conditioning and specially developed blades and (lubricated) bearings.

Operation:
To improve the measurement the gas first goes through a patented flow straightener that eliminates disturbances in the flow. These disturbances can be caused by pipe bends or Tee’s in front of the meter. After the straightener the diameter is reduced to increase the velocity and so the impulse of the gas on the turbine wheel. The gas that goes through the meter rotates the turbine wheel. The number of revolutions is directly related with the volume that goes through the meter. After the gas passes the turbine wheel it leaves the meter with a minimum of pressure loss. Via a magnetic coupling the rotations of the turbine wheel are passed to the index (counter).
