Honeywell Elster is a market leader in the area of measurement, control and analyses equipment for (natural) gas installations. The Elster group, with brand names like Elster-Instromet, Kromschröder and American Meter Company, became part of Honeywell in 2015. Before Elster-Instromet the company Instromet was independent and consisted of: Instromet Ultrasonic B.V., Instromet B.V., Instromet International N.V. en Instromet Inc.
Index / counter / totalizer for Turbine and Rotary flow meters.
A flow meter measures the volume measures the volume that goes through the meter, to visualize this an index is used. The S and M type index are mechanical counters on which you can visually see the total. The counter is equipped with a Reed contact (pulse provider) and can hand over this pulse to a low frequency pulse receiver. The pulses can be measured and with quantity of pulses per m3 the volume can be calculated. A disadvantage of this system is that there is no differentiation in direction and no protection against unwanted adjustments.
It is also possible to use a high frequency inductive proximity switch. This can be used as measurement value and/or control mechanism.
Volume converter
Volume converters, also called converted volume calculator, is used to convert the volumetric flow (m3/h) of a rotating (PD) or turbine gas meter to standard conditions (Nm3/h) in other words the flow at 1013,25 mbar absolute pressure and 0 degrees Celcius. The volume converter has MID approval and are typically fitted to flow meters when they are used for fiscal metering.
Pulsers
Pulsers are available in various types and can be mounted on various places.
There are low (In-SXX, IN-W), middle (E200) and high frequency (A1X) versions.
The are Reed switches, proximity switches, inductive slot sensor and magenetic Wiegand effect contacts.
They do not recognize backwards flow.
Absoluut encoder
The absolute encoder combines the advantages of a mechanical and an electronic counter.
Adjustment of the counter is not possible and backwards flow will be recognised.
They can be equipped with a communication protocol and are accepted for fiscal metering applications.
EK205 Volume converter
Battery powered VC for standard gas measuring applications.
With pulses from the flow meter, the measured temperature and pressure the Volume in Normal conditions is calculated (EN12405).
If the pressure is constant a choice can be made to only compensate for temperature with the EK205T.
Built in data logging function, serial interface and external communication.
